Is 41 too old to be obsessed ?

My boyfriend is 41 obsessed w bodybuilding he lives off protein shakes and bars and is obsessed w cars. Is that a sign of insecurity? I know there is nothing wring w wanting nice things or looking good but to be obsessed ? Note he has no kids and never has time for me
